YYAS 2020 Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

April 8, 2020

The Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) Team has been closely monitoring the global situation surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. The health and safety of the YYAS community around the world remains our absolute top priority during this unprecedented and uncertain time. It is for this reason that YYAS 2020 will now be held online for all admitted applicants.

YYAS is committed to providing the same content as previous years as much as possible; including university guidance, college admissions information, Yale-student led seminars, and more. Instead of in-person sessions on the African continent, YYAS will now hold a three-day virtual session in late July. All relevant information about attending the online sessions will be communicated directly to admitted students via email.

While we wish circumstances were different and we could meet our admitted students on the African continent in a few short months, we are working hard to adapt to the emerging situation to ensure a productive and impactful online session.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our supporters and partners on the African continent and beyond. The YYAS community is a strong one, and despite the uncertainty in the air right now, we know this community will persist.

Our thoughts are with everyone reading this message; may you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.

All the best,

The YYAS Team
