After three years of offering impactful online programming, we are excited that this August we plan to restart some in-person programming back on the African continent (in addition to maintaining online programming). We especially look forward to spending a transformative week with a diverse group of young leaders on the beautiful campus of St. George’s College in Harare, Zimbabwe.
St. George’s College is a secondary school for boys only up to Year 11 and it is mixed in Years 12 and 13. Girls were admitted to the College for the very first time in January 2020 into Year 12. Founded in 1896, the College is administered by the Jesuits, with an enrolment of about 750 pupils. The medium of instruction is English and the College offers the Cambridge International Examinations curriculum and a very wide range co-curricular activities, all of which the students are encouraged to participate in. In addition, the core ethos of “men and women for and with others” nurtures the students’ awareness of community and commitment to helping others.
We look forward to welcoming the YYAS 2023 Residential cohort to Zimbabwe for a week of building community, sharing perspectives, expanding knowledge, as well as learning about university, various career paths, and opportunities beyond secondary school.
