Aalyia Sadruddin
Doctoral Student in Anthropology
Aalyia Feroz Ali Sadruddin is a doctoral student at Yale University Department of Anthropology. Sadruddin was born in Kisumu, Kenya and took her undergraduate and masters degrees in medical anthropology and the sociology of health and medicine from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her research focuses on aging, caregiving and “disrupted” family life in the context of adversity. Over the past two years, she has approached these issues through studying the health and wellbeing of grandparent caregivers in rural-Rwanda. She has also conducted research on aging adults in Kenya, Uganda and South Africa.
