Helinna Ayalew
Project Manager, Yale Young African Scholars Program
Helinna Ayalew is Project Manager and one of the co-founders of the Yale Young African Scholars Program. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of YYAS, including marketing, recruitment, curriculum development, and logistics. She received her M.A. in African Studies from Yale University and B.A. in International Studies from Macalester College. Prior to coming to Yale, Helinna worked in development and diplomacy in her hometown of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where she spent time at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development. She has a deep and abiding passion for Africa, particularly in educating and investing in its youth.
